Beck's Music Box :: Seckou Keita SKQ
Charismatic maestro Seckou Keita and his quintet blend traditional West African roots music with modern European jazz and classical influences. It’s a unique sound, driven by Keita’s spectacular innovations on the kora – a 21-string harp.
Egyptian violinist Samy Bishai weaves expressive melodies around Seckou’s groundbreaking playing, accompanied by Italian bassist Davide Mantovani, Gambian percussionist Surahata Susso and the bluesy vocals of Binta Suso.
Known as the Hendrix of kora, Keita creates everything from funky Afro-jazz grooves to solo instrumental laments, captivating audiences worldwide with his energetic, uplifting sounds.
