SPIRIT of INDIA

A rare opportunity to hear the best Indian classical music from the north and south, this double-bill showcases two of India’s most highly-acclaimed musicians: mandolin virtuoso U Shrinivas and exquisite classical singer Anuradha Kuber.

Creating a dazzling range of musical effects, Shrinivas’s ‘extraordinary electric mandolin suggests the melodic flexibility of a sitar, the hooting vibrato of a distant wind instrument and the upper register delicacies of a violin’. He appears with his brother Rajesh – another fine mandolin player, and a mridangam player.

Classical singer and rising star Anuradha, celebrated for her melodious three-octave range voice and fine sense of intonation, sings of spiritual and romantic love. She is accompanied by a tabla and harmonium player.

    Transport
    The Beck’s Music Box is located on The Esplanade on the Southern edge of the Perth CBD. Buses and trains run frequently to the Perth City Busport and Esplanade Train station, which are both adjacent to the venue. Transperth Infoline: 13 62 13

    Parking
    Undercover parking is available at the nearby Perth Convention Exhibition Centre Carpark, entry via Mounts Bay Road. Fees are capped at $11 for the period 6pm to 6am.
