Beck's Music Box :: The Triffids
A secret in the shape of a song
In a spectacular gathering of Australia’s finest musical talent, the five remaining members of The Triffids and a select group of friends celebrate the music and the memory of The Triffids’ songwriter-singer David McComb.
Showcasing McComb’s extraordinary songwriting genius, classics like ‘Wide Open Road’ and ‘Bury Me Deep in Love’ are performed alongside B-sides and unreleased works. Accompanied by a slideshow of family photos and childhood stories, these songs are more poignant than ever. Members of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Black Eyed Susans, The Church, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Kill Devil Hills and Youth Group appear on stage with The Triffids for this special event.
Post-performance stay on and see video artists VJzoo show a selection of The Triffids’ family photographs live on screen to a soundtrack compiled from David McComb’s mixtape collection.

Alsy McDonald reminding the capacity audience ‘It’s our first live show in Australia for 18 or 19 years’ … He needn’t have worried. The hushed room would have forgiven anything, and as it was, the three hours that followed were breathtakingly impressive
