Performing Mixed Bill

Described as ‘among the most beautiful evenings of dance in recent memory’, Mixed Bill by the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève combines the intriguing modern visions of three world-renowned choreographers.

This program travels from the meditative work of Saburo Teshigawara in Para-Dice, through baroque virtuosity set to Bach’s soaring music in Andonis Foniadakis’ Selon Désir, to the warmth and humour of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s cross-cultural Loin.

Directed by Philippe Cohen, the Geneva Ballet is known for its exciting artistic collaborations begun in the 1970s by George Balanchine. Dedicated to the performance of great contemporary works ever since, it is known as ‘a home ofessential creative energy’.

Three choreographers at the forefront of world contemporary dance come together in the breathtaking Mixed Bill from Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève.

Described as one of Europe’s undisputed rising stars, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui examines the distance between human beings, eras and cultures in Loin, an inventive, powerful work created especially for Geneva Ballet’s supple, skilful dancers.

Saburo Teshigawara’s command of space, decisive dance movements and powerful sense of composition all fuse to create a world of delicate spirituality in Para-Dice, while Andonis Foniadakis draws on the notions of heaven and earth in his elegant and charming Selon Désir. Although widely divergent in mood and movement, all three pieces are united by a common concern with humanity, exploring themes of spirituality, brotherhood and humour – and by the chemistry and charisma of the dancers.

    His Majesty's Theatre is one of Australia's most sophisticated and stylish venues. The Theatre has been entertaining audiences within the walls of its Edwardian splendor since 1904.

    Transport
    His Majesty's Theatre is located on Hay Street, Perth (cnr King Street).  Buses run frequently along St Georges Terrace, parallel to Hay Street.  The free Central Area Transport (Red CAT) stops at ‘His Majesty's' on Hay Street and operates every five minutes from 6:40am to 6:20pm Monday to Friday, and hourly on weekends between 8:30am and 5:00pm.  The Perth Central Railway Station is just a five-minute walk from the Theatre.

    Parking
    Undercover parking is available at nearby His Majesty's Carpark No.5, entry via Murray Street, and Kings Parking, entry via King Street. The theatre has a standing arrangement with the Carpark to remain open for shows finishing late on weekends.  Street parking is subject to availability.

    Etiquette
    Latecomers will not be admitted until a suitable break during the performance, some performances may not allow latecomers entry, please check your ticket for details.
    Mobile telephones and electronice devies are to be turned off during the performance, they can sometime affect the sound equipment as well as disrupting the artists and other audience members.
    Cameras, video cameras and tape recorders will not be permitted without the consent of the promoter.
