The Great Southern :: Seckou Keita SKQ

Seckou Keita SKQ

Charismatic maestro Seckou Keita and his quintet blend traditional West African roots music with modern European jazz and classical influences. It’s a unique sound, driven by Keita’s spectacular creations on the kora – a 21-string harp.

Egyptian violinist Samy Bishai weaves expressive melodies around Seckou’s groundbreaking playing, accompanied by Italian bassist Davide Mantovani, Gambian percussionist Surahata Susso and the bluesy vocals of Binta Suso.
