Lotterywest Festival Films :: A Pain in the Ass
Director: Francis Veber · 85min · M
In French with subtitles
From France’s master of comedy Francis Veber (The Dinner Game/The Closet/The Valet/Tais-Toi!) comes another not-to-be-missed film. Set in Nice and based on a highly successful play, A Pain in the Ass is about an unlikely friendship between Ralf Milan (Richard Berry), a professional hitman and Francois Pignon (Patrick Timsit), a suicidal husband whose wife has just left him for another man.
Both men have checked into the same hotel, but for very different reasons. Milan is staking out a key witness in a major corruption trial in the law courts opposite the hotel, while Pignon has decided to hang himself in the bathroom. When Pignon screws up his suicide attempt, Milan finds himself playing an unlikely nursemaid. But the harder Milan tries to get rid of Pignon, the stronger becomes Pignon’s attachment to his cold-blooded neighbour.

Director: Renee Webster · 17min · PG
A short film about lust, loneliness and finding love in the workplace. Produced with the assistance of ScreenWest, Lotterywest and the Australian Film Commission (AFC).
Veber’s innate understanding of what makes people laugh, his gift for impeccable timing and for getting his cast to work together like interlocking parts of a fine machine, are difficult to resist
