Education
Welcome to the 2009 Perth Festival Education Program
As a teacher you have an opportunity to expose others to the myriad extraordinary experiences that the Festival brings to our doorstep. This is an opportunity to instil a love and appreciation of the arts in our youth. The arts have an amazing capacity to inspire self-confidence in children, expose them to a range of cultures and points of view, refresh their imaginations and open their minds. These are all necessary ingredients in the development of creative, well-adjusted people who can think outside the box and adjust to our constantly changing society.
The 2009 Perth Festival delivers a broad and comprehensive Education Program encompassing the performing arts, music, literature, visual arts and film from around the world.
When participating in a schools event, you and your students receive resources and support in relation to the event and access to an array of educational resource materials to assist you in planning for the event and integrating it into your teaching and learning programs.
Resources include:
- education resource kits are available for most events. These are linked closely to curriculum framework learning outcomes and provide learning activities, sample tasks and lesson ideas
- regular Festival updates via eNews
- students can sign up as Festival Facebook Friends, keeping them involved and informed through blogs and competitions
- an education officer with a teaching background to provide support and assistance to teachers and schools
- excursion management documentation to assist with planning
We look forward to sharing an amazing 24 days of creativity and inspiration with you and your students in the coming year.
